What is Gold?

 

Many of us know Gold as jewelry, gold coins, and gold bars. Do we really know what Gold is and how it became so precious?


How did Gold become so precious?


Well, anything on earth that is limited in resources automatically becomes precious. Being precious also gives it value. The lower the total quantity the more valuable it becomes. 


How did we discover gold?


Gold was first discovered as shining, yellow nuggets, and gold was first discovered in its natural state, in streams all over the world. Gold was first discovered in California in 1848 by James W. Marshall who saw something shiny in Sutter Creek near Coloma, California. He had discovered gold unexpectedly while overseeing the construction of a sawmill on the American River.

Gold was discovered in South Africa on a Transvaal farm, Langlaagte, on the Witwatersrand in 1886 by two prospectors. This discovery caused a turning point in South African history. Far more than diamonds, it changed South Africa from an agricultural society to become the largest gold producer in the world.


Gold became a part of every human culture. Its brilliance, natural beauty, luster, and its great malleability, and resistance to tarnishing made it enjoyable to work and play with.
Gold has always been powerful stuff. Its interaction with early mankind is long lost to us. But its. But its association with the gods, immortality, and wealth are common to many cultures around the world. Gold is associated with beauty and power. It has always been valuable to man even before it became money. Gold in ancient times was made into shrines and idols ("the Golden Calf"), plates, cups, vases, and vessels of all kinds, and of course, jewelry for personal adornment.

Gold was the first metal to be part of our economic and cultural progress. 
Owning Gold showed wealth and power and still holds true to date.
Regarding the world's economy, Gold is once again brought to the rescue. It is used as a hedge against inflation. Many major companies, as well as governments, use gold to stay afloat and protect their wealth. 



In 2016 Gold had the seventh-largest trading volume globally. Gold is widely used in the investment industry. Gold has managed to maintain its value through thousands of years and will continue to remain that way for the next thousand years. Paper currency shows no future.


With a limited quantity of Gold available to us. All of the world's gold will soon be mined. Then the demand for gold will be higher and the price will increase alongside.
When the cost of living goes up so does the value of gold. When currencies fall the price of gold rise.

 Gold is highly sought after with the USA holding the largest reserves in the world.

Therefore knowing the history of gold investing in gold will be a very smart choice. Gold is the only financial asset that does not require any obligation to be made good. Besides gold is an excellent investment or jewelry. A scientific breakthrough has shown some interesting facts about gold. 
Did you know that gold is used to treat cancer? Gold has many uses and is found everywhere. In our cellphones, We wear them as jewelry. That's the durability of gold. It can be made for many uses and yet it's a limited resource. This is why it's such a precious metal and every person on earth wants a piece of it.
